Church fragment of the Lorsch monastery

Project type:

Oil painting

Date

1998

Location

Lorsch, Germany

The oil painting by Ingrid Haupt-Rosenbaum shows the southwest part of the impressive fragment of St. Peter's Basilica. This church remnant dates back to the Carolingian period and is over 1250 years old. It is part of the extensive former monastery complex in Lorsch and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From the former "sand dune" on which the basilica was located, you also have a good view of Bensheim, which is only 5 km away.
